Laser Tattoo Removal
This treatment is most commonly performed using Nd- YAG lasers that react with the ink in the tattoo, and break it down. The broken-down ink is then absorbed by the body, mimicking the natural fading that time or sun exposure would create. All Tattoo pigments have specific light absorption spectra. The laser must be capable of emitting adequate energy within the given absorption spectrum of the pigment in order to provide an effective treatment.

How does it all work?
This laser treatment works by blasting your tattoo with a very high energy laser with a very short pulse. The pulse of the laser is absorbed by the ink which then breaks down into smaller pieces, which the body can then disperse naturally. You usually find a gentle fading of the tattoo after each session of treatment.
Many of us do things we regret in later life and most of these things can be laughed about later on or forgotten. Some things, however, are harder to write off as a mistake you won’t make again, especially if there is a physical reminder. People who get a tattoo often come to regret it, in fact research being presented at the British Association of Dermatologists' conference this week suggests nearly one in three people regret tattoos. Tattoos were previously something that people just had to live with indefinitely, but now there are advances in technology which means that in the last decade people are able to look at removing tattoos with a laser. This is commonly referred to as laser tattoo removal.
This technology works by using a tattoo removal laser that allows light to pass through the skin and break up the ink into tiny particles. It usually involves several sessions depending on the colour and size of the tattoo as well as the person’s skin. It is relatively pain free and the majority of people feel that the time spent on it is worth it, as is the cost. Lasers are used for other cosmetic procedures as well, including hair removal and anti-aging treatments, and are a safe and easy option.
The technology has been around for several years now, and as such it is much more advanced than when it was first introduced, as well as safer and more readily available. People that carry out tattoo removal are regulated and have to have the correct qualifications to show that they can carry out the procedure safely. Many clinics offer this service alongside other cosmetic procedures, and as the technology has become more mainstream prices have become more competitive, making it a more affordable option for people from all walks of life.
